Parenthood is so hard!

But it doesn't have to be…

Parenthood and teaching are two of the hardest jobs I have ever had in my life.

But there are ways to make both of these a little bit easier.

Start by setting realistic goals  for yourself and your family. Establishing a routine for both you and your children will help you with structure and organization. And trust me. As a former teacher, I will tell you,  kids thrive with structure and organization.

Also, don't be afraid to ask for help. When you need it. Whether it's a partner, a friend, or a family member. Having an extra set of hands goes a long way.  Parenting is hard and you should never have to do it alone. But remember it takes a village.

Above all else. Remember to TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF!  Taking a break can help you stay sane and keep your stress levels down.

So, what does self care look like for parents and teachers?

Self care can be ridiculously hard when you are the manager of little people. But it's very important for maintaining a positive mental health and wellbeing.

Self care looks different for everyone. But generally speaking, anything that you can do to relax can be self-care. Doing something you enjoy, like reading a book or taking a yoga class.  Taking a walk or engaging in other activities,  just like these, that help to reduce stress.

Additionally, it's important for us to take time  to connect, with family, friends and other support systems, as well as to get enough rest and nourishment throughout the day. This means sleeping for a full eight hours at night, and also making sure you're getting good food energy into your body every single day.

Self-care is an essential part of being able to give your best to your loved ones, your job, and your own life. Parenting is a challenge, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. Make sure you are making time for self-care in your schedule! It’s SO important!
